On July 29, 2021, an operation took place to handle the heaviest object of the MPD detector. With the installation of a superconducting solenoid, the main stage of the creation of the MPD detector of the NICA accelerator complex starts.
The assembly activities for the MPD detector began in July 2020 when the iron yoke of the MPD solenoid was installed in the first phase. In December of the same year, the yoke was assembled and prepared for integration with a superconducting solenoid, the sarcophagus with which arrived by water to Dubna from Italy in November 2020.
The MPD (Multi-Purpose Detector) experimental setup is designed to analyze heavy ion collisions in a previously unexplored region of high baryon densities. It will be located at one of the two points of intersection of the beams of the NICA collider, which is being created at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research within the framework of the RF national project of Russian Federation called Science and Universities.
The inspection of the handling operation was entrusted to VERTEST.
You can familiarize yourself with the inspection services offered by VERTEST on the website in the Inspection section or directly contact our specialists by phone specified in the Contacts section, as well as by e-mail, or fill out the application form in the Services section.
